AMMA ceramics was founded in June 2000 after we left our respective employment to nurture our company, Angus from being a senior lecturer in the School of Art & Design at CPIT, and Rene from office and business administration in the deer velvet industry.

Angus is a professionally trained Industrial, Interior & Furniture Designer with thirty-five years of experience in New Zealand, Australia and the UK.

We have lived in the wonderfull harbour town of Lyttelton for 13 years and are restoring an old Victorian cottage built in 1866, converting it into a hostelry called 'The Rookery'. We have two post modern Victorian bathrooms that have our tiles on display. You are welcome to visit us by appointment if you are interested in our products or browse our websites at amma.co.nz or at therookery.co.nz

Many surviving houses, villas, cottages and prestigious buildings in Christchurch and the Banks Peninsula are of Victorian descent. Our range of products will enhance and add value for those who wish to restore their homes to former glory.

At AMMA ceramics we specialise in hand printed tiles. We can print to your specification or you may choose from our comprehensive range of images which are unique to us with sole distribution by tiletrends.co.nz of Petone, North Island.

The base tile is a robust 9mm thick, European and fired to 1200°C. The parent company winckelmans.com has been manufacturing the tiles for over 100 years. Our images are silk screen printed to ensure a razor sharp image. They are fired to 790°C providing a durable surface suitable for all medium to heavy traffic.

Our matte glazes come from a long established UK company cmd.matthey.com and are available in a variety of colours. The tiles come in many shapes and sizes so that a range of patterns can be achieved to complement any floor, wall, path, porch, hallway, swimming pool, patio, kitchen, bathroom or furniture. For a modest screen and set-up charge you can have individual words, names or designs executed for areas such as entrances, signs or shop fronts.

We can recommend an expert local tiler who has several years of experience laying our products.

We also offer a design service to assist you to make the best use of your available space. Tiled areas add considerable value to your home or business plus the added enjoyment that well-designed spaces bring in to your life.
