Governors Bay Hotel

The Governors Bay Hotel was first established in 1870 as The Ocean View Family Hotel. Through the 1990s the hotel fell into disrepair and became known as the Smugglers Arms. In 2000 it was fully renovated and renamed as the Governors Bay Hotel and still retains many of its original features.

Restaurant

C1

Our focus in the restaurant is to provide our guests with professional and friendly service whatever the occasion.  Our brief to our chefs is to produce all dishes from the base ingredients up.  Stocks, soups, cakes and everything departing our kitchen should be prepared in-house ensuring you a quality chef-prepared meal. Wherever possible, we seek the best possible ingredients from what the seasons or markets currently offer (sourced locally if possible).  Through the cooler nights expect to be met with a very warming open fire.

Our restaurant is open Friday and Saturday evenings, Sunday lunch and for private functions, on any day or night required.  Of course, our bar and garden menu is available all day everyday for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  More importantly, whether dining in our restaurant or bar our commitment to quality, good value meals is the same.

Accomodation
Our rooms have recently been refurbished at the Hotel and start from $50.00 per night per single or $60.00 per double. Rooms rates include accommodation only, but a continental or cooked breakfast is available daily from 9.00am.

Please note that our rooms do not have ensuites although we do have shared bathroom and coffee and tea facilities. What we can offer, however, is unbeatable harbour views of the Bay from our balcony rooms. All of these rooms have queen size beds and basins (Tariff $60.00 per single/$75.00 per double)

Bar
Our public bar features a roaring open fire in the cooler months or entices you out onto the verandah with one of seven cool beers on tap during summer. Our espresso machine pumps out one of the best coffees on the Peninsula or you can sit and relax with one of the many wines featured by the glass from the Banks Peninsula, Waipara or from further a field.

Our bar is a pokie-free venue, but you can catch the latest games on Sky or sit back and listen to some chilled out music. For those with indoor sports in mind we have table football, a jukebox, pinball and a pool table.

Great value meals are available all day everyday and if the weather is nasty a cosy snug area off the bar can accommodate groups of up to 20.
