Harbour LIght Licensed Entertainment & Functions Venue

The Harbour Light venue is housed in the old Harbour Light Theatre building, built in 1916 originally as a Cinema and Live Theatre. It ceased to be a cinema in 1982 and has since been converted. In 1992 it evolved into it's latest form as the Harbour Light Licensed Entertainment & Function Venue. The building is still a striking old theatre from the outside, and although transformed on the inside, it still reflects it's past by way of a filmstrip mural, and displayed memorabilia.

The Harbour Light has developed a reputation as a leading entertainment venue in Christchurch. In fact, many national and international performers have referred to the Harbour Light as their favourite venue. High praise from the high quality acts that have performed here.

The venue tends to focus on the jazz, celtic and world music genres, but also hosts a number of: rock, pop, acapella, choirs, country, electronica, alternative music, comedy, cabaret and theatre. In other words, if you love music, you should become acquainted with the Harbour Light.
