Malcolm and Anne Carne opened
Anchor Fine Arts in 2002. The gallery has a historic bent and stocks
a complete collection of Lyttelton prints as well vintage Lyttelton
postcards. There is even an early original wood engraving.
Seven local artists exhibit
original works at Anchor Fine Arts and Anne sells her locally-made
jewellery range, called Undercurrent, which she can also make to
order.
Anchor Fine Arts publishes its
own range of greeting cards and prints with images commissioned from
local artists. With nautical antiques, ship models and a range of
maritime-themed gifts, Anchor Fine Arts houses a truly unique
collection of treasures.
After 20-odd years in sales
and marketing, Malcolm followed his passion for hands-on work to
become a picture framer. He is one of only a handful of people in
Christchurch to have the English
Guild Commended Framer qualification, which certifies that Malcolm
is trained in handling valuable articles in a way that preserves
them for the future. It’s a technique called conservation framing.
Malcolm can handle any type of
picture and also makes mirrors and does box framing (framing of
three dimensional
objects). |
